John Willie was a groundbreaking fetish illustrator and photographer who is most known for his artwork in Bizarre magazine during the late 1940's through the late 1950's. This one is my favorite!
Here are some of his covers.
Some more illustrations.

Well it seems like a more fun way to give myself that teeny tiny waist.
lol, I love the "There Was An Old Woman Who Lived In A Shoe" cover!
The first illustration is, perhaps, a homage to Body Integrity Identity Disorder and / or those who fetishize amputees, the paralyzed, etc.
Megan, I never thought about it that seriously, but you must be right. I just like the strangeness/silliness of the photo!
It's a great illustration, it particularly caught my eye because I recently watched a film called Quid Pro Quo, (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0414426/) about Body Dysmorphia and the related subcultures. The movie is more about paralysis than lost limbs, but still the same ball park. The CSI's and Grey's Anatomy have used the disorders in plot lines, as well.
The are beautiful and fascinating! I've seen some amusing old porn shots, but never anything like these illustrations. I now see how Dita manages to combine her vintage look with fetish and come out on top.. so to speak!
hey thiss blog is so useful as im about to start an art project based on "glamour" and i think im going to do kinda a hollywood style :)
im bookmarking you!

So nice! Love his work
Love these...just found your blog...she says with a smile!
I see how Willie paved the way for Bilbrew, Ward and Stanton...
He is also remembered for his comic strip "Sweet Gwendoline" (which inspired a movie, 'The Perils of Gwendoline'), and his communist working class hero Pinky Rankin.
Anon~ I will look into those artists, thank you!
oh my god
i love what you posted
shear brilliance
On my search for bondage art, these beautifully rendered ones really spoke to me. They arent aoutrageous, and they aren't "porno" looking. They are, in fact, a beautiful representation of the female form.
Extremely erotic without the raunch.
